Does anyone collect the Presidential or Innovative dollars? Anyone see any future interest in them? How about Sacagawea dollars?

I almost have a complete set of the Presidential and Sacajawea Dollars but the new ones are of no interest to me. The mint has ruined coin collecting by their cheap packaging, poor designs and high costs.

I put together several sets of the presidential dollars complete with proofs. I did them with Dansco binders because the Dansco's filled the pages with historical presidential data. They make for a good looking set. My entire purpose was putting together something useful for the grandkids... But no, I see not future upside really. At least not in our lifetimes.

No. No and No. They just don't interest many for some reason unless they are an exceptional specimen. ;)

I started collecting them when they were first released. I bought a roll of each intending to make sets for my grandchildren. Shortly into the series the all-powerful US Mint decided to make the purchase less convenient for the collector and more convenient for the commercial dealers. They stopped selling rolls to the public. I stopped collecting. The premium was high enough and then they added the middleman, and the premium went up from there. The same thing happened with the Sacagawea dollars.

The mint did come back later and make them more convenient, but it was too late for me. I had stopped.

I have hundreds of both the Presidential and Sacagawea with no outlet except to spend them. There are billions of them in the treasury vaults.

I bought one roll of each 2018 Innovation Dollar, the first in the series. I used them as a 'type' coin in the grandkids sets. I never got another one.

There isn't interest, but the way it works, the best coins had little interest for decades and decades as the majority got destroyed and only few examples remained.

Not saying it would ever happen here with these dollar coins, just saying, who knows really until we get to that future date.
Maybe if the Fed destroys all the ike dollars,,,, they are scarce enough as it is nowadays,,,, but if they killed off the hoards sitting in vaults, maybe then interest piques and that cheaply put together BU ike sets everyone has on the shelf becomes a big payday finally... Maybe not though... people don't care thinking they have all the time in the world, until something is about to go extinct, then all of a sudden everyone cares. LOL

In my opinion, dollar coins will remain a novelty and you will be able to pick them up pretty much for face value, and in uncirculated condition as people hold them and they don't get handled.

I only collect enough each year to put in my albums. Otherwise, nope. Not interested in the coins.

Not really interested in the Innovation dollars. Have a set of the Presidential dollar proofs. Not worried about whether they'll be worth anything anytime soon. I got them because I liked them.

I am complete on Presidential dollars with proofs as well as Sac's thru last year and done with both. No to Innovation dollars as I am through with new Mint products. And no to any upside in my lifetime. Of course, I am 67 so who knows what will happen down the road, especially if we go cashless in the future.

Did collect the first bunch of SAC dollars 2000-2008, with Glenna Goodacre's and Thomas Rogers' designs in P, D & S. After that, the designs changed too frequently to hold my interest.
If I come across Presidential dollars, I give them to my grandson. Innovation dollars don't seem worth the investment, JMHO.

I collect both. Still need the innovative dollars. They are on the back burner for now. I did them for fun not investment. Unless you get the proofs they are not worth much. Unless you find/get the "Cheerio dollar" of which is worth millions... ($3,000-7,000)

I did all the Prez dollars as I kind of liked them, though did not bother with positions A and B. I am really into Native American portrayal on coins so I do collect the Sac Dollars as well. I refuse to partake in the new quarters or dollars. This whole several coins for one denomination per year got old.

I got my first order from the US Mint in 1959 and my last in 2021. I'm done with them and all the ballast they are putting out.

    LakeEffect Average Circulated

    PROS:
They're largely ignored, so they'll be an interesting novelty when they are no longer minted.
    Easily affordable in high grades.
    Interesting subject matter.

    CONS:
    No precious metal.
They don't circulate, so they'll always be available in high grades.
Like a Bridgeport Commemorative (for example), we will be long gone before demand rises to justify the purchase price.

Collect for fun. @Randy Abercrombie has the right idea. Put them in an album that looks nice. I have some myself.

I have a full set of the Presidential PD Dollars. I'm trying not to collect the Innovation Dollars but I succumbed and bought a few.
