Well I have to admit, just a few months ago I would have never looked twice at Lincolns, much less a brown Lincoln. But now I have found the beauty in them, and oh what a spectacular sight they are.
Now saying that, I have only managed to pick up two BN's so far but I wanted to show you my newest one. I paid 3x greysheet for it if you could believe it! Well, greysheet was only $0.35 for it so I decided to splurge.

And here is the other one that I already had

Copper is beautiful. Nice tone on that one.

Paid 3x grey sheet:yawn:? Now you are in the high-roller category for sure.

Color wise, my preference is for the 1909, but that is a well struck 1945. Great pictures, BTW.

Nice coins and pictures! Brown is beautiful!

I love finding those 40's toners, they are always priced right for an easy pick-up too.

First these coins are very nice. There are several reasons to like brown - not just for Lincolns. The first is that you can get higher grades cheaper - and to me these lusterous brown coins are beauties. Now the closer the RB's get to brown the more I like them. Now I will admit I like the 66 rds in lincolns, but I would consider trading my 66 RDs for the right BNs. Now I think any RD's prior to Lincoln cents are not my cup of tea. The few rd's I have seen in Large cents were just ugly in my opinion and at the same time most of the rd's I have seen in IHC's are just not as nice as the RB's or BN's. Again all of this is just my opinion.

Anyone that doesn't like a toner or a "hard glossy" brown copper coin should never collect copper.

    I really like this thread.

It points out, yet again, the old classic line "Buy the coin, not the _____"

The designation BN, RB, or RD does not determine whether or not you will like the coin ! There are many gorgeous BN coins, and some RDs I don't care for... though I tend to prefer some mint red. Maybe a lot of mint red ! :kewl:

Each coin is unique. Enjoy it for what it is, regardless of designation.

Have you tried Metal cleaners from Walmart to get rid of that horrible darkening? The use of a brass wire wheel on a bench grinder with jewlery stones will also clean those up. :smile:rolleyes:
Just kidding you know. Nice coins. 45's the best.

Your photographs are getting very good indeed. Make sure you keep all your old photos. Over time you can re-image your coins and see the improvement in your photographic skill. It is a huge confidence booster.

    Nice coins BTW.

Nice coins, I agree the photos are very good, my photos still look like your photo from a year ago, I have DSLR with macro lens, don't know what is wrong, just can't get lens to focus on coin.

Those look awesome! Sounds like the price was right too. I don't actively collect Lincolns but I would have snapped those up without thinking about it. I'll have to keep an eye out for these nice brown ones. The variations are endless.
