1979D Quarter Missing Clad Obv.jpg 1979D Quartr Missing Clad Rev.jpg Coinstar Score!

Found yesterday in the reject tray of Coinstar machine at my local supermarket, along with a number of other coins.

This is by FAR my best find in the wild.
Weighs 4.68-4.70 grams, well within the tolerances for a quarter missing a full layer of clad. Weak strike on Obverse, gorgeous strike, red tinged copper, on reverse

Not sure how to load MP4 file with coin being weighed and flipped so you can see both sides

Lol. Yessir I'm happy with that!

    Thanks!

    Indeed, no PMD trash here.

Now I need to work out what grade this baby is. Being thinner a lot of the details are not as well defined as a fully struck normal coin

Looks A.U. to me, based on the photos.

Same year I found a under weight quarter the other day. Weighed 5.23

Probably the photo, but it just looks like a one side toned coin to me, but then I've never focused on missing clad layers. If Fred thinks it is, then I'll go with his evaluation.

It's the real deal for sure, total chance I found it. Stopped by grocery store to get some bolillos for the missus and I always check the Coinstar.

In hand it's Extremely obvious it's missing a clad layer, aside from the weight being within tolerance for said error on quarter.

If I could work out how to upload the short video I shot, you'd see quite plainly, as did Fred, that it's a real nice find in the wild

That's cos I don't know how to link it here.

When trying to upload, it only allows pictures, not MP4 Video
