That's a nice counterstamp, Eric. It's listed in Brunk's reference as G-277 but is unattributed. The latest population numbers show three examples known, including yours. The others are struck on an undated Large Cent and an 1832 Nova Scotia Halfpenny. I did a quick search for C.H. Ginn but didn't come up with any promising leads. It's interesting to note the evidence of an example on a Canadian coin. This suggests that Ginn may have been from Maine or another state bordering Canada, most likely Maine. While Canadian coins weren't legal tender in the US they did circulate within the border areas between the two countries. Usually the issuers were from these areas for that very reason. Just something to remember if you decide to research Ginn. Thanks again for showing us your coin. Bruce
Your dad did a dad thing in scaring you enough that you would stay away from dangerous trains. Hat’s off to him!
Beautiful set, Z. What's wrong with you? What's "wrong" with you is that you have a keen appreciation for beautiful coins. BTW, are these Daniel Carr issues? Bruce
Needed a Liberty Seated Silver dollar as a filler for my 19th Century US Type Coin album. In decent condition they are very expensive however I found this one on eBay for a decent price! The initials actually add something unique and in my opinion does not distract from its appeal; cool patina nice strike!
This coin ticks a few boxes. It's counter stamped, adds to my Latin American silver collection and it's a Heaton mint coin. I especially like that Heaton and the abbreviation for Birmingham are spelled out on the coin instead of just the "H" mint mark. Plus since it's an official counterstamp, I get two coins in one! This is the first coin I've taken with my new photography set up. Edited through Polish, a phone app. Still learning, but tons better than many of the photos I've done. Info also included from NGC world coin price guide.
Pretty cool 1819 British Crown George III with birth counter stamp “BORN 5th MAR 1829. EDWd THWAITED,”. Higher grade and fun coin!

I agree, a nice clean undamaged coin. The initials are stamped on it neatly too. A very nice filler coin. Bruce
