First time EVER on Ebay . . . Part 2 . . . The Shocker!

    It happened again!

An ebay transaction that turned out better than expected. Here is the whole sordid tale . . . .

I ordered two Daniel Carr pieces from an ebay seller I have occasionally done business with, Dave Hayes of JRH Specialty Services. The order was for two 2012 ANACS certified Stonehenge pieces.

So the package arrives. The first item I pulled from the cardboard sleeve looks like this.

I thought to myself, “Oh crap. One of Dave’s guys pulled the wrong piece for the order. Now I have to deal with the whole return, reship routine.”

Then I pulled the two Stonehenge pieces that I really wanted.

My next thought was, “Oh crap, I had too many items make it to the shopping cart. Did I actually do a Covid induced accidental purchase?”

Then I pulled a note from Dave out of the package. That is when the shock set in.

I had to do some research on that Blairsville piece. The ASE overstrike is a very limited production of just 25 pieces. I already own the regular silver / brass / copper made for the public Blairsville set.

I was vaguely aware of the extremely limited mintage pieces but figured I would never see one of those available for purchase in my lifetime.

Suffice it to say, I’m going to need to see my dentist after that jaw-drop . . . . . .

My sincere thanks to Dave Hayes and JRH Specialty Services for such a kind gift. Kudos to this ebay seller.

I have to admit, I like the goody bag gift more than the intended purchase. Must be that it is silver and the EMF F Unit locomotive on it.

No question. That piece is the pick of the lot

I don't think I revealed the other side. Here are both.

Thanks for sharing something nice about a deal, we see too many bad news stories, so I really appreciate something uplifting.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. I had something similar. I mentioned that I didn't get many Canadian coins in North Carolina and I mentioned how much I liked their coins. It wasn't long that I got a package from Canada. I won't say the name, but it is a great guy. He sent me cents, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars. I was flabbergasted to say the least. I set up a binder with coin slots and have them in my office. From time to time, I take it down and look at them. All I can say is that there are some great people out there and I try to be one too.

Here I thought I was the only nice person I know. It's nice to know I'm not the only one in a million, yeah right. Congratulations!

I've bought many coins on eBay and once in a great while the seller will include a bonus coin. It's rare and always appreciated.

Only a couple times I got a "bonus" coin. After spending several hundred dollars the "bonus" coin was typically a coin worth less than $1. Really? I don't need any more "junk" coins. I'd rather the seller drop their price by $1.
