    Hi everyone,

    Happy 2022!

Although, it's not really beginning on a happy note up here with more lockdowns.

However, ancient coins continue to be my favourite distraction.

I have, once again, received some fabulous coins as Christmas gifts from some coin friends.

@ominus1 has been Santa Coin Claus for the last few years and I'm always very grateful and excited to see what he brings.

I was really excited when I opened the package from ominus. I've always thought that, despite Ivan the Terrible being, well, terrible, that his little silver coins were really neat and had it on my wishlist to get someday. Well, it's no longer on my list, but, in my collection! Along with a 25 ore from Denmark, Santa Coin Claus was very generous this year!

Thank you so much, @ominus! I'm so proud to add these to my collection!

To my surprise, another package showed up in the mail from @JGGonzalez!

This past summer, I had the pleasure of participating in the AMCC3 auction and won a fouree Tribute Penny. I finally knocked one of my top wish list coins off my list.......or so I thought.

Although the fouree obviously isn't the real thing, I was content with having it as the sole example of a Tribute Penny in my collection. When I opened the package from JGGonzalez, that changed.

This is what I was presented with:

The real deal! I couldn't believe it!

    Thank you so much!

I'll never understand why I would be the recipient of such generosity and kindness from you all. But, I am eternally grateful for you. You all completely blow my mind!

It isn't even over yet. There's somerthing coming from @Stevearino too.:wideyed:

You guys are too much. lol

From the deepest part of me, thank you all sincerely. I can't express my appreciation enough.

I'm glad that we all made it out of the holidays safe and sound.

Even though the real world sitting outside my window, I'm off to distract myself with some more coins. :D

Take it easy all and stay safe out there!

That Ivan the Terrible coin is really neat! I like coins that don't look like much, but have an interesting historical background.

I think we're all glad we could brighten up your Christmas. I know I always enjoy exchanging messages, hearing what you're up to, and talking about coins or artifacts. Having a Pen Pal is a custom that has largely died out in the modern age and I think people are really missing out. Please keep in touch! :)

Your Denga was minted between 1534 and 1547, i.e. before Grand Prince Ivan IV was crowned Tsar Ivan I in 1547. The obverse legend reads Knyaz veliki Ivan (i.e. Grand Prince Ivan). Ivan was born in 1530 and the coin was minted when the real power rested with his mother Elena Glinskaya or (after 1538) with the boyars.
