That's what I thought - which would be fine when I pass away and someone else who doesn't know anything about coins needs to sell off my collection. Until then I prefer to sell my own stuff.

I use them, lots of other people use them. I'm not sure exactly what you're selling but I would use them 1000 out of 1000 times over auztionzip. I'm pretty sure you're paying higher fees with more hassles for a smaller buyer base

It's certainly your choice but it's obviously a lot easier and more lucrative to not avoid every major outlet

I've been really happy with the few I've picked up off of USACB. Prices are lower but they should be with only 2% in sellers fees compared to ebay. Especially the higher you go. There's hidden gems there from time to time below market value. Everything on ebay is listed way above to make up for the cost of doing business. I've used ebay since 2000 and it has really went down hill. They had a good thing going with the ebay bucks and then they got rid of it and only rarely do promos with it now to get you to shop.
USACB is a little more difficult to use. You don't have thumbnails to check out what you're looking for. But at some point you have to start supporting other venues. You don't have to abandon ebay if you still enjoy the selection but just realize there's other options to check and use out there. Hopefully it grows.

Maybe my choice is that way for a reason - because I want to sell my own stuff (it gives me something productive to do in the middle of a pandemic) and I don't trust anyone else (that I don't know or have a working relationship with) to care about my stuff like I do. Maybe I've called other places who have told me stuff like, "Any item worth less than $500 gets put in a bulk lot and wholesaled out via sight-unseen dealer blind auctions." Maybe those major auction houses have been wholly indifferent to the coins I'm actually trying to sell.

But, to speak to your point directly, I have considered sending them some slabs I've had listed for sale for a while. But reasons like the ones listed above keep me from reaching out. It's not just my being stubborn.

I fully get that perspective for a HA or Stacks, I can assure you that wouldnt be the experience with GC. They do a lot with sub 100 coins and even sub 50 dollar coins. I've sold through them for several years, you dont have to have some monster consignment. I would just recommend to set a reasonable starting price on low value slabs especially if they're world coins, but other than that their service is very good

I haven't used USA Coin Book for selling but as a buyer I LOVE IT! I've found a lot of good stuff there.

Agreed. I've thought about selling there, but I've bought several items and all transactions have gone smoothly. It's a website I check every couple of weeks or so only because it is new and there aren't tons of listings. If it gains more traction, I would definately check it out more often.

I sold quite a few coins on USACB in 2021 (I gave up on ebay early 2021 for several reasons). Net gain overall, despite much of what I sold on USACB was to thin out my collection, auctions starting low and for the most part, selling for less than what I paid.

Check out the "items sold" link at the top of the USACB home page, most of the stuff moving is low dollar. You don't have to give up lots of personal information to join and fees are low, but depending on what you have, you might be better off going to an outlet for the more serious collector.

When ebay started they didn't have images. Give them time they are still growing and learning. If you want thumbnails, send them a suggestion.

There's been a lot of discussion on the forums regarding the new Federal requirement of issuing a 1099 for any sales over $600 in the calendar year. Is this also a requirement at USACB? I assume it is but since @Jim-P said that he didn't have to give up a lot of personal information to join I thought I'd ask the question.

I believe what happens is that your payment processor (for example, PayPal) reports your transaction total to the IRS (and may be responsible for issuing the 1099.) I know this is what's happened to me in the past (PP reports gross payment totals, and you are responsible for figuring out your profit as income.)

If I am incorrect, I'm happy to be corrected/educated.

This sounds about right, thanks for replying.

Just bear in mind that every little addition that they incorporate for us typically creates more hidden complexity than we imagine. That is what is strangling eBay.

It's a requirement for the payment services, so yes it will impact you through paypal or venmo etc.

Deals can be found, and the term is subjective, as in beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I HAVE PURCHASED MAYBE 500.00 OFF OF THERE the past year, mostly error coins, i only have 2 or 3 listings, i have been concentrating on getting more coins up on ebay, but they are a good bunch, free to list, and only 2 % of hammer price goes to them...good luck, hope you do well!!

I went over there and look around. I see where the prices on some of the silver I looked at was a few dollars around 3 to 9 dollars cheaper. I would say they're in the neighborhood.. going to try a purchase there and see how it goes. Thank u all for a different venue.

I've sold over $2K worth of doubles and lower graded coins (Morgans & Silver Eagles) since Nov 3rd. Def no where near the eBay traffic - but its so easy to manage. You have 30 days to pay your "seller fees" otherwise they lock your account.

Return policy, buyback guarantee, complaint procedure, false/fake advertising. These are just a few of the things I look for in buy/sell sites. So far, I am pleased with eBay's policy and procedure as a buyer. I cannot speak as a seller because I do not sell period. My opinion, read the fine print and choose wisely. Good luck.
