This by far is one of the nicest 86 P Morgans I've ever seen. An R-5. Vam 1-G . Recently John Call sent in another 86 p of mine that was another hamered strike. Stiill waiting on the verdict on that one...
But have a guess at this toned beauty. 20220108_100413.jpg 20220108_100439.jpg
Notice the clashes.....don't know one could miss them...

Beautiful reverse toning. Pictures are overexposed, but even with that, the coin looks fabulous. Looks like an easy 65.

This is closer to the coin in hand. Samsung doesn't have the grade of camera as other smart phones .
Plus it is a hard coin to capture.. as the toning is quite usual. 20220108_111438.jpg

I dunno, the obverse strike looks a little soft at the top there. ;)

I have no skills at grading Morgans, but if this one doesn't get a star, then I absolutely don't understand stars...

Nice coin. interesting toning. What do you mean by "R-5"?
Point of order. VAM 1G has been eliminated and is now VAM 6B.

MS65 for me. BTW, reclassified as VAM-6B..;)

I was just going through my list this morning and found I have an 1888-O that I attributed VAM-1G. It's now a VAM-31 as of 2017...:shame:

65 easily. I'm going to stretch and guess this pretty coin got labeled MS66.

It does not look like a star coin from NGC. For the * designation, it would need more coverage, with reverse toning. I do think the toning looks beautiful, insofar as the photographs allow. However, the star is really for monster toning.

I can't say that I'm surprised to find that I don't understand star grades.

    65. No star, as it appears to be in an older PCGS holder.

Good point. Definitely not an NGC holder.

Anacs yellow slab 65 most of you nailed it, like a.few others I believe that it go 66 * or + I may send it into one of the top 2 tpgs.

What you do not see from my images is the color ranges as the toning from left to right on rev is a pale purple hue......that goes dark over the wing, with perfect cresent moon rainbow color, to bright silver surfaces. The obv. In hand looks very close to the image as pictured.. perhasp a bit brighter.

If you send it to PCGS opt for the tru-view images. I'll bet Phil could really make it pop....:)
