If anything you said made any sense or were remotely possible we would all be interested no matter what country the coin came from. If you actually understood the process by which coins were minted you would realize that it just can't happen the way you seem to think it does.

Those pictures show good detail. How do you think this happened? And do you think they stopped the press when the Canadian Mint found this error to fix the press? I was wondering how this one coin could have made it out of the mint once they discovered this unique error. I'm thinking they bought a soda from the Coke machine or something. Makes you wonder. It makes me wonder...

I found a 1969? Canadian cent error on this website. I hope it's ok to post this, the website shows an error coin like the 1977:

    www.georgemanzcoins.com

also this website goes into great detail about hanging # errors/die clash:

You told us how these die clash marks get on the coin. All it proves is that there would be more then one of these coins in circulation unless those dies were changed immediately after that one strike. Is that what you are saying has happened here?

I'm not in any way amazed with this coin. I merely stated tht the way you described this coin is not correct. It will come back from the TPG as a simple die clash. Worth a few buck but not much more.

I am not sure what about my comment jabbed you so much as I intended it to be informational and not confrontational. To answer your question on the 3 L you propose with a hidden sun suddenly exposed~ I would think it a FAKE or post mint damage producing an artifact similar to a sun. The rest is just manure piled on. I certainly wouldn't praise it. I personally think you have been treated with a high level of kindness considering the situation. As to Canadians, I am sure they have noticed your post, and like most, they can not find a reason to support your hypothesis on minting processes. I have a hard time deciding if you are just a very inexperienced young coin collector, or just inexperienced.

I agree with this statement 100%.

You are having a "3rd grader" (YOUR words, VERBATIM, 'themansionshop') grade your coins? Good idea, thats the only way you'll get them in plastic.

The only thing we are amazed at is that you think these 'errors' (especially the damaged '64-D) are worth hundreds of thousands, or millions of $$. Personally, the Canadian cent MAY make it into a REAL, problem free slab.....but, even if it makes it into a slab....big deal! Show where the value is what you claim it to be. You can't! Want to PROVE us wrong? Do 2 things:

    1) Get that '64-D in a top tier TPG slab, not net graded.

    2) Take the Canadian cent, and once it gets into a slab with 'Pennache' on the cert, consign it to Heritage...use whatever reserve you want, and show us the results of a sale for millions (I'll even give up the hobby if it hits $200,000).

You know why you won't? Because you will NEVER get the '64-D into a problem free holder, and NEITHER coin will fetch anything NEAR a fraction of what you believe them to be worth. You can give them all the fancy names you want....that Canadian cent will NEVER have 'Pennache' on the cert. Someone sold you a bill of goods, and you swallowed it hook, line, and sinker with these 'errors', and you will NEVER EVER be able to sell these 'coins' for, nor will their value be, anywhere NEAR what you think they are.

The coin 19Lyds posted is, in all likelihood, worth more than your whole collection, if you are only buying the type of 'errors' you have shown us thus far. I just hope you aren't paying big money for them. Lastly, in all likelihood, your grading fees are going to total more than any amount of $$ you could sell these 'errors' for. Don't say we didn't tell you so.

This is my last post to this thread, until you come up empty when getting your 'Pennache' graded, as everytime you make a comment about these coins, you make less sense, and you insult those of us who DO know enough about the hobby to know your coins are minor errors at BEST, regardless of what you call them. You have no idea these are not worth millions, OR 'museum pieces', but WILL start learning once your 'errors' are presented by the TPG's for what they really are....either damaged, or very minor errors, not even worth the grading fees (though, if you enjoy them, get them slabbed so they won't get damaged....at least the undamaged ones, which could very well be the minority of your collection....I'm sure the "3rd grader" isn't too busy).

One question.....when Speedy, the moderator, said that your "4-cud" '64-D Lincoln seemed to be post-mint damage, like everyone else did, what did you think of that....what is your opinion of his comment? You couldn't give it because the thread got locked...a real good sign for those that disagree with you. Do you think Speedy doesn't have a clue, either??? Is everyone but you wrong???

The 'highlighted', or 'bolded' words, in desertgem's statement is VERY VERY true. Even though most all, including my, statements have been somewhat insulting, seriously, you could/would have been TRASHED on most other coin forums. It's only due to the forums guidelines that you haven't been ridiculed mercilessly. Seriously.

When I first looked at his pictures on the other thread I dismissed it because they were poor and didn't really seem to show anything. For some reason they are coming through clearer now and he may actually have something. (The reverse pictures still aren't clear enough for me to tell what if anything is oing on.) It isn't a die clash. From the obv it looks like it might be a flipover double strike. Not $200K, but significant. Maybe fifty bucks.

(Die clashes tend to show in the fields an only rarely on the devices. Double strikes though tend to show more strongly on the devices and are wiped out in the fields. And it isn't a hammer job because the date etc on the Queen's bust are not reversed.)
