What is the excuse for the mint to rise prices again? It can't be the metals prices going up.unbelievable!
"We had a few products sell out quickly last year. Clearly, this means we should raise prices on ALL products."
What does an astronomy club buy on a regular basis? I've never been involved in running a club, but I figured it would involve renting meeting space and maybe paying for speakers -- but I seem to remember that your club is more Serious Business than any I've come across in my own circles...
Our annual space and science show, NEAF (Northeast Astronomy Forum). Everything from renting space at the local college...paying for security....food vendor prices...travel for speakers, hotel rooms...etc. It adds up. We don't use commodities but do utilize services and labor. http://www.rocklandastronomy.com/neaf1.html Only 3 months away.
My US Mint costs went to $0 this year. They have nothing I want bad enough to pay premiums that can never be recovered. Perhaps they have to raise prices to make up for losing me.
They started cheaping out on their presentation boxes. The mint like most businesses in America are just greedy entities intent on getting whatever the market will bear.
They're going to go up every year, especially now with the massive inflation. Realistically theres only a hand full of things that will be very popular this year now that the ASE/AGE design change is no longer the first/last year. There might actually only be 2 things that sell out in the first hour or two if that
I'm not gonna bash them, just going to say it's a business and they can do what they want and as a customer, we can do what we want. if prices are too high I won't be buying, and I won't be buying from a 3rd party vendor with their markup on top of it also either. Simple as that. And seriously how many christmas ornaments are they going to make and sell this year? 7+? they can do what they like. Maybe poor sales will lead them back to reality eventually.
The law enforcement commemoratives did not sell well at all. The sales figures for the commemorative coins have been disappointing in recent years. How does that give the mint an excuse to raise prices again on them? I take it that all of the Proof sets will be higher too.
The mint has released about 100 different quarters per year for the last 20 or so years. This guess is probably short when you consider all the options (Uncirculated in Mint Set, Proof, Circulation Grade, Silver, Reverse Proof, P, D, S, W) and any other configuration they can come up with. I'm not starting another long run set of anything.
