I just made a couple of new additions. Both are seller's photos.

1) Brunswick-Luneburg 1722C Thaler - Not a scarce one but decent condition and I didn't have one. DAV 2076



2) Erfurt-Stadt 1617 AW Thaler - This one is in lesser condition but much scarcer and I didn't have one. I have a feeling that it may actually look nicer than the photos show.

 

For those of you that have been following this, I have big news. This is the set in my collection that I have focused the most attention on throughout the current segment of my life.

NGC sent out an email this afternoon announcing their annual Registry Awards. My set of Wildman Coins won "Most Creative Custom Set". I am absolutely shocked. This is a set that I built simply because I like them and the history around them.

It never crossed my mind that I would ever win an award. I built the set on the registry 6 years ago and have slowly added to it.

 

Congratulations! It's a really nice & well researched collection. You can also add the appellation "Most Creative Costume Set".

 

Best thing, it means Chris has the best, "Wildmen" collection on planet. Got me beat by a couple of touchdowns....

 

Here is my only recent addition. It's a type I didn't have already, based on the Davenport number.

Was the blackness caused by the Great Fire? It's a shame I was outbid on that 1 WildPerson (must use correct terminology these days) that I tried to buy.

Coins are crazy these days.

 

Probably natural toning of silver. The Great Fire of 66 was in London. Braunschweig was in Germany. Coins are on fire!

 

The NGC label says XF details - graffiti. There is a visible scratch which is where the graffiti tag came from. In hand it has also obviously been cleaned.

 

I had some success at the Central States show on Thursday. Brought a new Wildman home with me. It's relatively common but another variety that I didn't have.

I read it all with great joy and much interest. Those are fascinating coins.

 

My wife and I spent the week at the WFOM in Chicago this year. Part of the reason was that I wanted to exhibit my Wildman coins again. The first time, in 2019, I did not place. This was my first time exhibiting so I was happy to participate. This time I had higher goals.

I must admit that I was a little disappointed in 3rd place, but I was exhibiting against people with years of experience. You can't see it in the picture, but my ribbon is in the upper left-hand corner. There were a total of 6 cases containing 38 coins.



This is the first year that they have had prizes other than medals. For my 3rd place finish I received the ASE below.




After thinking about it for a few days, I am more than happy with the 3rd place finish. My plan is to make some improvements and keep trying.

They have a meet and greet for exhibitors on Saturday morning. It isn't well attended but a few people stopped by including Joe Boling, ANA vice president. It's not that big of a deal, Joe is in my local coin club as well.
