Who's going to NYINC?

If I'm able to go, I will almost certainly be there on the Friday, as early in the afternoon as possible, on the theory that it should be less crowded than on Saturday. Which is preferable for the obvious reasons. I suspect that I'll be easier to find than most CT members, even though I don't have a button, given the extremely small number of female collectors who usually attend. I'll be the woman in my avatar, except several years older and wearing a mask. And I'll be even shorter than I was then, not that one can tell from the photo: I had my son measure my height recently and it seems I've lost an inch somewhere along the way, bringing me down to 5' 1" from my previously lofty stature.

I have no distinguishing characteristics and I look nothing like my avatar. Maybe I‘ll wear a funny hat.

No -- the weekend after this one! Hopefully the snow will be gone by then. Unfortunately, my son is scheduled to fly to Toronto tomorrow. With his cat.

CNG just announced a hybrid auction format due to Covid. Will be interesting to see if anyone else makes changes or adjustments over the next week.

The meeting of the Oriental Numismatic Society, held in conjunction with NYINC, will be Zoom-only this year according to a recent email.

Given weather delays on top of COVID delays, I hope it is a very well-adjusted cat.

Hummm...I know a very respected member here who has many nice coins consigned for this sale... Bad news or not ???

Hopefully it won't make a difference. Anyone who's there can still bid just as easily as if the auction were entirely live.

I think that @DonnaML sums it up very nicely….as usual.

I doubt it. For one thing, CNG has a phone app that makes bidding a piece of cake, although I do NOT recommend it for the weak-willed. For whatever reason, it's much easier to run up a huge tab on that thing than it is on their website (which may or may not have happened to me, ahem).

I was just looking at the NYINC website and thought I'd remind everyone that proof of COVID vaccination is required for entry. https://www.nyinc.info/

I agree, the auction market has been hotter than ever these past two years without in-person bidding. No, or minimal, impact.

I go every year, usually stopping in several times between auction previews and the bourse. (I can walk there.) I suspect this year I will just be there for 1 preview day and 2 bourse half-days. The bourse Friday and Saturday are the educational event days, well worth it to up one's numismatic knowledge.

And don't forget that it's an indoor public event in NYC, so you have to wear a mask. Preferably a KN-95!
