    Hi guys,

I have this 1989 P Jefferson Nickel and would like to know what is happening with the obverse rim on the right side? To see such a large double rim on a nickel seems unusual. Is this considered a MAD? If so, why do other MAD's on Nickels have a flat wide rim?

Isn't a railroad rim just another name for partial collar?

That's the upset rim showing, the collar didn't cover it all.

    That's correct.

The Nickel is just a Misaligned Die Strike. Not a Railroad rim.

do you see doubling around Jeffersons nose and mouth ? or is that just glare?

    It's strike doubling.

A Mis aligned die also causes finned rims. Finned rims will fold over and look like little rim cuds.
