I don’t know what it is but considering the subject matter I doubt that it’s gold.

Thanks for the replies, have done some tests so far and it has passed, last one will be spectrometer which I don’t have to hand so will be done this week ( probably Thursday ). Even if I’m wrong and it’s not gold has anyone seen one of these before?

Nice Michigan token. It looks like a fairly modern gilt brass/bronze.

Thank you for the reply, I didn’t realize it was a Michigan token, do you have any links regarding these? So far it has passed an acid test and ceramic test which is why I think it’s gold but won’t know for sure until Thursday

Try google 'Michigan capitol token'. I have not seen another just like yours.

Copper or brass and a beautiful token. I suspect it’s from a 150 year celebration of what it says. Great condition. :)

Thanks again all for the replies. I’ve tried to google every possible description and so far have not got back any results. I will keep searching and hopefully find out some extra info ( I’m very busy trying to determine what 1800’s Chinese coins I have in a book I found recently so was just going to be lazy and let the spectrometer result decide on weather or not I keep spending my time on this ) either way I will update this thread by Friday
