HA does the math for you as you are bidding. I’ve always known what I am bidding and have never had to pull out a calculator.

True, I at least should have given them credit for being transparent to that degree. But, why are they motivated to make things more complicated than they need to be? What's wrong with allowing people to simply enter bids based on the total that they want to pay? Simple, it works the same way in theory, and nobody accidentally screws themselves. The reason, in my opinion, is because they want to benefit from people screwing themselves.

Heritage might have coins other places do not have hence the buyer fees. Buyers fees are typical for auction houses. It is a supply and demand business.

In the end the auction house has to take their cut whether it’s a buyer fee or a seller fee. In HA’s case I’ve heard they may offer a seller hammer price plus a couple percentage points to make them think they are getting a good deal. Regardless of that, buyers will bid what they are willing to pay. For me the only price that matters is the one with fees included. When bidding on another site like eBay or GC I’m even willing to pay a few dollars more in exchange for avoiding HA’s outrageous postage.

I can bare having to wait a couple of weeks for low value items. Wait until you have bid many thousands of dollars and pay right away and then wait weeks because of logistics issues.

Yeah, first time I bought a multiple thousand dollar coin from overseas it was a few restless weeks of waiting. The wait becomes more bearable the more you get used to it. Buy a few items from overseas OP and it will condition you to have more patience. :)

I always factor in the buyers premium, state sales tax, and shipping cost in my bids. That said, I haven't won very many bids this past year. I always wonder if the high bidder doesn't factor in all of the extra costs.

I have purchased coins from HA as well as GC. Both are clear about their business practices, and I am reasonably happy with both.

You really have to read the details ahead of time. There are places that even state that their shipping of 'small items like coins $6.95/lot and you cannot combine shipping, but we may ship all your items in a single box'

I got my last purchases from London a hell of a lot quicker than I got a significant and unshared here purchase from Heritage this summer.

  14. DL is one of the sights i use. I also have a long list of dealers I deal with. I do not use Heritage or any of these sights with, all the super ripoff fee's. Now if I am looking for a coin that is hard to find in AU55 or higher and a must have, then Heritage will be a last resort.

So tell me, how can it be a rip off when they tell you about the extra fees? Or maybe you're upset that you didn't figure it out beforehand. I get it, I was upset when I won a bid and ended up paying at least half again in extras. Lesson learned, I never did that again.

People in certain states have an advantage in their bids. Theres also the fact that some people just want something more

Like some others, I have no idea why the OP is whining and complaining. Every time I've bid at HA, the fees and shipping are always noted. It's actually hard to miss them. I even go a step further and figure the sales tax, which isn't rocket science (HA is required to pay sales tax to your state if applicable)

If you're going to be upset at anyone, be upset at yourself, not HA. It was easy to know how much your final cost would be. If you were unaware, there is only one entity to blame, You. Save the righteous indignation for something legitimate

Is it the 80 you are really complaining about or the P&H? I just don’t buy stuff online generally or It would be dangerous

I get that you're unhappy, but the 'Yelling' through capitalisation of everything is not needed. It does play with peoples eyes. Vent as needed, we understand that, we don't need to be yelled at though.

BP is known, as stated earlier, and Heritage actually posts what their charges will be:

    https://www.ha.com/c/contact-us.zx?...zx?ic=footer-sitemap-060716&topicId=21#answer

You not looking for that information is not the responsibility of Heritage, that is on you as a buyer. I'm assuming that should you use HA again(Unlikely from your tone here) you will research prior so you know what additional costs you will incur.

Keen to see what error coins you bought

Wow, you paid for overnight shipping, and still waiting, I'd be upset also. I'll wait for the show-n-tell. Good luck!
