I'm new to pape4r money collecting would you recommend some reputable dealers? What do you think of http://www.scripophily.net/plantrainaut.html? How should I store them? Are albums available? Thanks, m.
Do you have books that tell how to grade currency? Learn how to grade first, and all other types currencies will be graded basically the same. Other books or magazines needed: 1st. Get "United States Paper Money Grading Standard", by Herbert J. Kwart, 1984, Published by: Five Seasons Publishing P.O. Box 397 Hiawatha, Iowa 52233 2. For whole sale prices you can get the green sheet. 3. You can get subscription of "Bank Note Reporter". 4. "A Collector's Guide to Postage & Fractional Currency" by Robert J. Kravitz 5. "Standard Guide to Small-Size U. S. Paper Money from 1928 to date", by John Schwartz and Scott Lindquist 6. Military Payment Certificates by Fred Schwan All are good books to understand any currency, but mostly U.S. currency. I hope this will help you. -O) As for buying, I would join a club, go to local shows, or local dealers. Talk to them, so you can find out about them, and they know what you collect. You can then see how they react to you, and they can get to know you also.
I have a ton of foreign paper money my father left me...i don't know what to do with it all. Anyone know?
List some items. We can tell you about them, you could sell them... I know someone in particular that would be interested
We all enjoy looking at foreign material (foreign to the US, I presume ), so if you want to scan and post pics, there are a bunch of us that may have some input about them, if that's what you're looking for. To sell it, you probably need to start getting an idea of the value of the various pieces, and then decide on where to sell... eBay, etc. Dave
I last bought the CDN sheets, including green sheets, in Decemeber I don't think I'm going to subscribe to them but who knows? I bought the current CoinValues magazine that values currency. Tomorrow I'm going to my first coin club meeting.. Thanks for all of the useful references. I'll check them out. Right now my project is to set up equipment for taking pictures of coins/currency. I've using a scanner but what a more versatile setup.
I have never bought from them, But i just checked out there Stuff and it seems really cool!! Thanks for the link :high5:
