I'd like to be considered for the SCCS new member drawing.

Thank you @gsalexan and the generous anonymous CT member who financed this unique 'membership drive'.

    Happy New Year to all.

Yes I would love to be considered a member interested in the membership.
These Collectables are so very over looked at .....and can honestly say that over the years have only had 1 show attendant that has some to sell. Which I purchased all he had .
Thanks for the offer, looking forward to more information and involvement best regards this holiday season, and a happy and healthly new year..

Paddy, you posted one we don't yet have an image for in the SCCS online gallery for Mike Bean cards! With your permission, I'd like to use that picture of the Eagle on Shield card and it's info sheet in the gallery.

I recieved my card yesterday again many thanks to Greg for the opportunity, as well the generous person who paid the yearly $25 membership fee.
I can honestly atest to the generosity of the members here on coin talk.
Over my 10 years plus tenure here I have witness many times random acts of kindness, as well members here going above and beyond what would be expected by anyone.
These acts no matter how large or small demonstrates how much passion the members here have for our hobby.
My hats off to all of you who have gone beyond to enstill the passion to others that we ourselves hold.
One never knows at times how such a small act can make anothers day.
    Thank you Paddy

Well, there really hasn't been many posts lately of souvenir cards themselves, so I think I'll add a few. Maybe other members will be encouraged to post their own.

Here is B-109A. This is the first spider press card that the BEP sold strictly at a show (the 1987 Great Eastern Numismatic Association show in Cherry Hill , NJ). A total of 30 cards, all hand-signed and dated, were raffled off to visitors making this the rarest card ever produced by the Bureau (it's actually tied with another spider press card).

For a few years in 1980s and '90s, both the BEP and the American Bank Note Co. would bring their spider presses to shows for demonstration. ABNC began creating special show-only cards, also only available in a lottery. Here's one of my favorites, SO-122A, with multi-colored 1896 official stamps from the Republic of Hawaii. Only 100 of these were printed.

I remember the spider press; maybe at the Tucson Mid-Winter or ?? don't remember exactly. I did buy one and will have to go find it. If I'm lucky.

This one will appeal more to stamp collectors, but it's a card that isn't seen very often -- SO-27, a semi-official card printed by Ashton-Potter for CANADA 82. This card shows the 10 step color printing progress of the 30¢ Terry Fox stamp. Ashton-Potter seemed fond of showing off these color progressions -- they did a similar card for CAPEX 78. The company has produced many Canadian and US stamps, though none were intaglio.

I generally limit my collection to engraved material, but I found this at a good price, so decided to pick it up.

I am excited to see these post. I worked in a coin shop in Laurel. Maryland from 1976 to 1981. During that time we had a very active stamp and first day cover clientele and one of them introduced me to the souvenir cards. I actively started collecting them in about 1977. There were often stories about the new production that showed up in Linn's Stamp News. I read that periodical cover to cover and very actively pursued the new issues as they came out. I remember some heavy competition for the ones that were issued at some of the larger national coin and stamp shows.

Most of my collection was stolen enroute to my next duty station (going from Fort Meade to Iraklion Air Station in Crete. What few that remained were put away in a box and are somewhere among my treasured memory stuff in my storage building. I have ordered the Mellone's Photo Encyclopedia of Souvenir Cards and when it rolls in I'll see if I can dig out the ones I have and maybe start collecting again.

    Thanks for posting.

Glad to find an interested collector! The Souvenir card Collectors Society has a vast visual reference library on their website, showing all the categories of cards, both philatelic and numismatic. This is going to be a lot more current than the 1997 Mellone's catalog (and it's free). You can take a look here:
