You have a type of offset printing error specifically known as a “partial wet ink transfer.” Wet ink transfers happen when, in error, a sheet of currency paper does not enter the press, the inked printing plate will contact the impression cylinder.
I agree, a partial front to back wet ink transfer. The transfer looks higher on the face of the bill than it should be. There is something else going on here that I can not explain. This may have been made by a laser printer. The photo is not sharp enough to determine if this is a fake. IMHO
How can 2 separate printings ( black plus green serial number) get transferred together? Wouldn't the image be reversed if it was a wet ink transfer? It also appears that the serial number on the rev isn't anywhere close what would be expected to be found for the sheet to be cut and stacked correctly. Something smells fishy.
Definitely something going on, fishy or not. Shame about all the folds in that bill. Keep it protected until a determination can be made.
Question-shouldn’t the lettering be reversed? Shouldn’t everything be reversed? Washington looks to the right but we can’t see that. The federal reserve letter “K” is behind Washington’s head. Yet on this note it looks just as it should and it’s in the correct position.
What is so obvious about this is that the note that was copied was dirty and stained, when it was printed onto this note, the printer added the stains and dirt. Nevermind the rest of the points.
I would keep it just because... umm, well I can't really think of a reason but I'd still keep it, lol. It would be fun to pull out and show people to see if they can figure it out.
Well I was wrong about saying it was a wet ink transfer ( how could I miss the fact that it was not backwards, and the serial number was present … old age). But I did get the part about the printer correct.
Yes. It's in with my silver certificates. I've never Buick Electra paper money except that I pay attention to serial numbers. One of my Silverton certificates is a star note. But I noticed this one day when I got home from the store and I put it back. It's been sitting in my drawer for several months.
