    At 11 mm and only 0.76 gm, this is a delicate flake of a coin.

    Obv: nymph seated left on rock, right hand raised above her head, extending her left hand to touch coiled serpent before her; selinon leaf above
    Rev: man-faced bull standing right; ΣEΛINONTIOΣ above; in exergue, fish right
    Ref: Potamikon, p. 116 figure 152 (this coin); HGC 2, 1229; SNG ANS 711–2 var. (ethnic); SNG Ashmolean 1904–5; SNG Lloyd 1270 var. (same); Basel –; Dewing –; Rizzo pl. XXXIII, 6. Good VF, dark iridescent tone, some porosity. Rare.

    Next - a nicely preserved coin with good details but with incomplete design caused by a small flan

    Early Severan denarii seem to suffer from dumpy flans. This would be a fantastic coin with complete legends if the flan were thinner and broader.

    Here's a portrait of Mithridates VI on a coin of Cappadocia - a not-so-subtle message in Regnal year 4, that Ariarathes IX (son of Mithridates VI and only 8 years old when first placed on the throne) is backed by his powerful father. For more see: A Father's Support.
