Don't give up on your collection. I went through similar thoughts years ago when I saw another collection. Coins that I once thought I could never own. I also let out such collections should never be shown as it could discourage new collectors. But eventually, I found a few coins that were better and so I would trade up. Just one way to build a collection.

The price may sound steep but that's the beast of it. A great number of folk have seen this collection but for most of them, not a word......it's mysterious, to say the least. Thanks for the plug.

To me this proves no matter how much you spend, how great care to pick out the best, there is always someone with some better. So just stop the maddness and please yourself.

How true! I have. But I don't have a million to have all these coins graded. The air fare, car rentals, the fancy restaurants and hotels. The coin shows and auctions and parties. And all the $100 grading fees! But someone could have a lot of fun with these coins. A losing prospect, to say the least but they would immensely enjoy their adventure.

Beautiful set. I've been looking for a well struck 54-S with 3+ steps but his is wonderful. I don't have $2 million to spend anyway.

    Steve, those are @leothelion

I must say that those are some impressive Jefferson's.

I know nothing about the Jefferson Nickel market, and might end up feeling like an idiot for even asking. But, is this asking price utterly ridiculous? Or is this anywhere near the ballpark of what this collection might be worth?

I've read through the comments of both threads trying to get a feel for the answer, and while it has been made abundantly apparent that it is an impressive collection, I can't find any definitive info about the price point.

Those are nice coins but I wouldn't pay anything near what he's asking. Since they are in an assortment of different TPG slabs one would need to have them regraded if they wanted them in a registry set. For the most part they are not top pop coins which reduce their marketability at that price range. I commend the seller for putting together this set and his detailed descriptions of each. Maybe someone that's more of an expert in this series could elaborate.

This coin has the exact same step detail as my MS67 registry coin.

I have heard of this set and despite it's price tag, doesn't mean its worth that price. I have nearly all of the same coins and a few in better grades and my set at this point is not half that price so, unless someone pays that price, I don't see it.

This is the same as the coin sellers on Ebay that set a price at retail or even above what NGC or PCGS have it valued at and expect it to sell. Sorry folks, there are some gullible people and possibly some real idiots but, I have not seen many that will pay retail or over appraised value unless they just wanted that coin, no matter what.

I hope the owner is holding their breath, I can see a Tik Tok accident occurring. Good luck all.
