the wife and i went to her parents over the weekend and my mom-in-law and i were talking coins. she cracked the safe and showed me some '96 silver dollars she has. she was saying something about the '96 had a limited pressing? was wondering if this was true and what they'd be worth? (i know, i don't have any pics...but they are uncirculated)
They are among some of the most valuable of the ASE's. I'm not sure of the mintage numbers, but they generally sell for about double most other years.
Mintage for that year as per my Red Book (2008) is 3,603,386 pieces. Seems that's the lowest mintage total for the bullion version thus far....
1993-1997 US mint was having a spotting problem/milk spots,so finding a spot free it why 96 is high price AME
awesome! thanks for the replys. if you would like, let me know and i'll try to get over there and get a couple pictures.
By all means. I had the privilege of going through 5 rolls of these that my brother in laws Dad had set aside. Of the 5 rolls, it was difficult to find a single complete roll that did not have milk spotting. Milk Spotting is a definite problem for this year and ANYTHING which grades MS68 will NOT show a premium. Anything MS67 or less may just as well be a 2010 SAE as far as price goes.
