1968 s penny wide 6 and double s mint mark

    hello every body i got a 1968 penny in good shape but after looking closely it has a s mint mark clearly doubled and the 6 in 1968 is very wide to the rest of the numbers.i am trying to take a good pic but it not very good will post as soon as i get a clear pic thank you

    Sounds interesting. I sometimes will use a loupe in front of the camera lens for some good close-ups.

    Doubling on a mint mark, especially during years where the mint mark was added to the die by hand, most assuredly indicates machine doubling. Fat 6 or not.

    Or it could be an RPM.

    Not many RPM's listed that would match the op's description. So a picture is a must.

    SInce the OP mentioned 1968 Cent, does it mean anything if a number on the date is lower then any other numbers? For example, the 8 in 1968 is lower then the rest? (Sorry for high jacking the thread).

    I have noticed a few like this (especially the year 1968) and thought I would share.
