This ad just popped up on my Facebook page…I wonder how many “suckers” will fall for this! 5091C94A-6310-4096-8C89-FB8F1E6EADEE.jpeg

Anyone that has Facebook. Everything you see on there is true.

It is awfully sad that these ads are done in such a way to fool the casual coin collector. These people give our hobby a black eye.

The Chinese have been faking slabs, too. Caveat emptor.

In August, NGC and PNG contacted Facebook about these ads and offered to help. See excerpt below (taken from November issue of Numismatist). But so far, nothing from Facebook.

At least someone is selling them at a reasonable price.

What you see is what you get, plus a headache!

Yes, although we don't see it too often, it's especially bad when one of our members here falls for the fakery! :(

Out of curiosity, what happens if you do order one of these 1) you get a Chinese fake or 2) your money goes "poof"

Woohoo! Thanks! I can't believe they had a gross left! I'll be making money in no time!

A fool and his money are soon easily parted. Let this be a lesson for those "suckers" who fall for such transparent scams.

If they check the Cert number they should be alright.

    Yes.

Just depends on the individual scam, both have been known to happen. If you pay by like check, money order, or any other method where there's no chance of a clawback the money will usually just go poof

The Chinese fake the slabs too. Not only that, the fake advertisers will post a photo of a legit coin but that won't be the one you get.

At least they invert their labels to match/read the coin's orientation.

Don't know that they need to. The slabs are made in China. Just do an over-run.

The TPG's have said that their slab shells and inserts are not made in China.
