The “bleed through” the OP sees is actually some wet ink transfer from previous printed notes on the sheets as they are stacked. Very common to find this.

The slight misalignment in the serial number is also common. Major misalignments of the serial numbers are commonly called “gas pump” or “stuck digit” errors.

Here is a picture of a gas pump error:

Me either. Some company must buy these directly from fed banks and hire people to search for stuff like this.

 

Same here. They're all keepers....unless I have to spend them.

I once had a $100 and a $50 Star note, but eventually had to spend them. Their condition wasn't good enough to sell for a decent premium.

Are you going to have them graded ? If so, I have a suggestion.

 

I am at some point. I have a bit of reservation about mailing them in and have thoughts of hand delivering them at a show whenever there are graders at a show I am near. I have no brick and mortar shops anywhere near where I live.
Suggestions are welcome.

They are known, I matched back in June but was September before I had both notes in hand. This was the last matched pair listed by the Zegers/Winograd Project. There have been 2 matches since and one of those pairs was in negotiations last I heard, one of the owners of a note in the other pair has yet to be located after registering his note with the project.

I had my note since 2016 and the owner of the other note had listed his for I believe 2 years earlier. I just never knew of the project and because of health issues had stopped searching for a while.

 

I would request they end up in the same, oversized holder.

 

I emailed PMG a while back and asked if they were grading them as an error yet and if they would put them in the same holder. I was told yes on both.

 

I like the idea so they don’t get separated. Something I would worry about if they were graded individually.

I gather from your conversation that other pairs of "matching-serial-numbers-on-different-notes" exist out there somewhere?
If this is true, is there a 'matching service' available to help find them?
or a web-site? Is there a way to check each of my * Star * notes individually?
