Has a small die crack above Lincolns head to the left. The reverse has what I believe is called a retained die break or cud. It looks like a crack runs down the middle or close to it. Ideas? Any ideas would be appreciated. I am new to this. Thanks
The reverse looks as if there is some kind of glue, resin or adhesive on it. The obverse has some damage on the rim at 6 o'clock and it's hard to tell from your photo to see what you are describing.
It's on top of the Shield. It appears to be metal. It doesn't have a glue or resin feel to it. It sticks out past the rim on the left side just a little bit.
It's damaged, and not an error coin of any kind or type, as others have posted. It did not leave the US Mint looking like that.
@Superloop Welcome to coin talk! I agree your cent is damaged and it looks like some type of adhesive on the reverse to me too! I think the coin took a hit on the obverse near his head!
