I like them all, including the coin weights! If you had to guess, how many dedicated collectors of ancient coin weights do you think there are out there competing with you?
See @Ryro post about competition in today's Leu auction. I did not bid on most of the lots because they were not Roman / Byzantine. I really wanted a 1 Tetarteron. It hammered for 460E. I attempted to bid, but found I was logged out by a inactivity. Probably just as well. There are quite a few other collectors. The competition is uneven. Some auctions have lots of bids (bidders?) and others have me. I bought one weight on my list at the opening bid ($15) as an unsold. I bought another at 4 X the opening bid (and not in an auction that started at $1). I think cast bronze coins and scale weights are similar. The big ones sell better than the small ones. I have been looking for II VNCIA and IIII (or IV) VNCIA weights for a few years. I have not seen one in time to bid. I have seen one or two that I missed when they were in an auction. I suspect I will bid aggressively when / if I see one. I bought an expensive lot because I wanted the AA weight. I have a scale weight article in the next ISASC newsletter. I will post a link here.
Fun list @rrdenarius ! My favorites are your #6 Olbia (those big ol’ bronzes are neat!) and your #1 (nice As Grave). Looks like you had a good year.
