I don't see anything wrong with the Morgan. As for which to buy, I'd lean toward the half if you want it at all, you like it, the cleaning isn't egregious, and the price isn't retail for a problem free coin. A quick peek at CoinFacts will tell you that it's much easier to find an 89-CC Morgan in VG-F already graded than it is to find a 73-CC half.
Just be sure you love the coin before you buy. (These aren't the only two out there.) I guess my deal is I once paid 4 figures for a better date seated dollar, NGC slabbed, that had a cleaned look. The coin always bugged me. Just thoughts to chew on. I think the Morgan is real, I have coins that look just like it.
I'm more suspicious of the 1873. There's a large "feature" to the left of the date and a very small "feature" to the right. That coin would have to be authenticated by NGC or PCGS before I'd consider it.
I see what you mean, but the "pimples" or "dimples" look to me to be honest hits, as does the stuff to the left of the date. That very straight "capped column" to the right of the date looks suspiciously regular, but it is indented, not in relief, and it could result from a hit. I'd be nervous about buying either coin raw, but that's because I'm not a Morgan or Seated collector, and I don't know enough to authenticate them myself. I'm just going by general principles I've learned here, and from looking at a lot of real and a few fake coins. For a purchase decision, I'd want to consult someone who knows the die pairings and pick-up points for these specific keys.
The mint mark looks like it's in the right place for an authentic 73-CC no arrows. There is only one reverse used for all of them, and the date position looks like obverse die 1. Take a look at this document: http://www.lsccweb.org/BillBugertBooks/Bugert-Vol-II-CC.pdf, page 62, where you'll see other die markers, specifically a pair of tiny bumps in the eagle's right (viewer's left) wing that will probably be visible on the coin you're considering.
Not all key or semi key dates are slabbed. It’s good to have radar but I use it when buying any coin of value. Trust an honest dealer and look at the coin.
I trust the seller. Been dealing with the shop for years. The half is the closed 3 that’s correct for the no arrows. I will look for the two bumps on the left wing. Thanks everyone
