I cleaned the hell out of coins back in the 1960s. Had a bottle of CCC, Copper Coin Cleaner, at the ready. No value to most so no harm, no foul.
Never touched the 16d Merc I found but had to sell it for a place to live in 1970. Just shoot me

If I might ask, what "professional" are you going to have look at them? Understand, not all coin shop owners are experts. Be careful that some may low-ball you.

If I purchase a Morgan slabbed fine. But I prefer to grade and slab my own. My reasoning. My money, my eye appeal, my choice. All Morgan's are keeper, in my opinion. Thanks for the post.

    Nice load of silver!
    I advise you not to.

  9. Some of the things I have are from a small personal collection but mostly with the exception of a sack of Buffalo nickels and a few others

Brian the coins you photo'd are all gonna be AU at best.
My suggestion is to see if you have any key dates and focus on them.
The 34 Peace dollar is low grade maybe a fine but most likely a G.
Take some time and study grades on each series. If the majority of your coins are circulated. It is most likely that the dealer will give you a melt/bullion price. If so that is something that you can do yourself.

    Brian,

Strange, I also have coins that were locked up for 50 years and some come back 'cleaned' from the grading company. Weird.

What fun to go through all of those.
I would certainly be frugal in what I paid to have evaluated, unless you plan on selling all of them, then a few might be worth having slabbed.
