Agreed. It's hard to be sure from a single pair of shots, but even if it isn't cleaned, it's a common date in high AU or low MS. Certainly worth keeping, but probably not worth submitting.

It has a Die Clash. Could be a VAM. That might help bring up the value a little.

I like the coin. But it's not worth sending in to be graded.

A single die clash without letter transfer does not make a VAM. ALL Morgan and Peace dollars are VAM's. It is the study of Die pairs or marriages and the life stage of the dies. Clashes, die cracks, mintmark and date position etc all help toward attributing the correct VAM number to a coin. A VAM number does not mean extra value unless other contributing factors are present.

We didn't mean you cleaned it, it was cleaned by someone else sometime in the past.

People have been cleaning coins longer than that. In fact, collectors in general were more inclined to clean coins back in the old days.

  14. Okay np think I’m gonna use my typical poor judgment and go have my coins looked at professionally and then get back to this page 5DF8021D-DB73-4584-A985-38F04B2D6F58.jpeg 5DF8021D-DB73-4584-A985-38F04B2D6F58.jpeg

Very cool. I don’t know the background but it appears you have been the recipient of a silver bugs collection. Very much up my alley….. As far as individual cherry picks, keep in mind that many millions of common date coins were struck and from what I can tell, that’s what I am mostly seeing here. You would do yourself a favor picking up a Redbook and getting familiar with a site called Coinflation.com. Lots of very cool and historic silver there. Enjoy the hunt!
