@Brian Reynolds There is a difference.. Lamination is a Planchet issue. That's what you have. A Die Crack is a Worn Die Issue. It's a crack on the die itself which causes metal to flow into the crack when it strikes the blank planchet and it appears raised on the coin. Please respond to let us know you read this explanation.

I, personally, have seen more "lamination" errors on those era nickels than other coins. Guess they hired many unskilled people to replace those that went to war, thus the quality control was lacking. Just my take on it.
