My type set is very happy this month... This is my B-day present to me :D
will post the full slab tomorrow :D Sellers and NGCs pics (I believe the bright sellers pics are "brightened" and also the cause of the low selling price lol)

I could see either of these. In the pix (both sets are rather horrid) it looks to have some surface issues, but may look better in hand.

I'd go 50-53 details. Would wanna see better pics if I was gonna guess whether or not it got a straight grade. Based on the pix here, I'd say there's a fair chance it's a "details" coin.

Still, it does have decent details.

Well, I can definitely say one thing.
    It's a Cohen 1 variety (C-1), Rarity 1 (R-1).
I know because that the ONLY variety for 1833 half cents.

I'd need better pictures to ID the Die State.

I would say EF details, environmental damage.

Above average for its age. Graders can be hard on them. EF, hopefully higher! Good luck. Thanks for sharing.

If you think 3rd party graders are hard, wait until you have an EAC grade on the same coin. Now that is strict grading!

I went for some similar examples for my type set (album); some details coins can definitely be acceptable when they still have sharp features and are at the appropriate price.

exactly.. in the case of all 3 of my "details" type coins, 1895 morgan with a scratch and an 1877s trade dollar with a rim ding as well as this one, all have great eye appeal, well above their grades :D
