Recent pickup - thought it's been a while since I did a GTG, so here we are.

The coin is in an old NGC (green border) fatty holder.

I am going with the average for this, bag marks and abrasions and prooflike finish are fairly regular for this date and MM. Nice coin

I'm just not a fan of toning like that.

Love the 3 sets of pictures.

I’ll go with a classic MS62 for some of the chatter, although I could possibly see a 63. I dont see enough contrast for a PL, although those are shockingly hard to photograph. Possibly a star grade for the unique and attractive reverse toning.

All great responses so far. The correct grade has been guessed, but I'll give it until tomorrow in case anyone else would like to throw their hat in the ring.

Having the coin in hand, the obverse is definitely NOT PL; the reverse, probably yes. The toning, like @kanga said, is not what I'd consider "plus" toning - but it is definitely interesting in its own way (and not "negative" toning.)

The most difficult part of grading coins comes when I compare the coin I have in hand to images of already slabbed coins - I see some coins at a grade above this one that mine compares favorably to, but I also see some that are much, much nicer. I also see some coins in the same grade as mine that are much, much uglier...but some that are similar. In the end, I think that means it would take a good day at the grading table for someone to bump it up a grade - and while possible, maybe not worth the risk.

    That's because they're inconsistent. I gave her MS63.

The toning is interesting but definitely not star worthy. I like it as an MS64, but think it is high end for the grade, just not high enough to get a plus and I am not sure the + designation existed when this was graded.

    MS64
