Hello, Coin had alot of circulation and tried to take angle on pics to determine if the extended sail anomaly was a coin mark. I think it's a die chip but my knowledge is limited and need to check with the experts. First two pics are with cell phone and 3rd is with 16x loop. The last 4 pics are under the scope from four directions. Thanks
I have a question as to why the 1891 CC Morgan has a description of a spitting eagle which was caused by a small die chip so desirable? Other than the Mint it came from I mean. Is it just a conversation piece or does it add value?
@Bargainbidder Apparently just a Conversation piece, for now anyways. I don't get the whole VAM thing anyways. Seems kind of foolish to fuss over a Die chip for, right?
I'm only guessing because of the low mintage compared to what the number produced for the 2004. I can understand the 25c spitting horse due to die crack but even that one in higher MS condition doesn't share the love of the Morgan. Of course Morgans have the collectability allure that is well deserved. IMO only as small as that is...lol
The Morgan weighs more than any state quarter or modern nickel and is made of silver. The only state quarter that is made of silver is a proof coin, and there aren't that many proof SQ's that are worth more than any Morgan regardless of what the mintmark may be.
