Congratulations! You had a fantastic year! My favorites in order are 5, 4 and 2. I must say I am quite envious of your #5. I've been after that type for a long time and either underbid them or get blown away. Great additions all of them!

    Thanks, @ambr0zie.

    Thanks, @El Cazador.

    Thanks, @spirityoda.

One thing I like about #9 is that I was able to purchase the coin right away, rather than waiting for a month or so, as in #5.

    Agree. Thanks, @rrdenarius.

    Thanks, @Agricantus.

I am happy to pickup a few coins I like this year, despite being outbid on many others.

Thanks, John. I enjoy reading your CT articles on new purchases. You have so many stunning and amazing coins!

Thanks, Donna. You have an amazing collection of Roman Republic denarii. I only started to pickup a few this year.

Thanks, @7Calbrey. I really like the Fasutina II portrait. :)

Thanks, @Spaniard. I agree that the portrait is really life-like.

Fantastic top 10! My favorites all the aureii especially #1! I also do love a wide range collecting and spend a lot of time to learn about history background of the coins, so, with this top 10 you'll have a very interesting time treveling adventure at holidays :)

Stunning group, @happy_collector!! WOW to that Faustina Jr aureus... just gorgeous in every way. Definitely worthy of your #1 spot!

The Agathokles Kore tet... I've been pining for one of those since seeing @AncientJoe's spectacularly artistic example years ago. Yours has an equally lovely portrait.
Most of the examples out there have rather crude devices and often a downright ugly rendering of Kore.

That Euthydemos tet is very emotive, both obverse and reverse.

    The Agathokles/quadriga tet... wonderful!

So many beautiful and well-chosen coins on this list! My favorites would have to be the lovely Faustina II aureus, the two Agathokles tetradrachms (I really love the Kore/Nike type - yours is in excellent style), and the Euthydemos I with that fantastic portrait.

I'm usually prone to a Roman Imperial bias but that Euthydemos I is absolutely insane. So incredibly lifelike.

Congratulations on a superb year; your Agathokles pair make for a lovely set and the style of your Faustina Jr is of a gorgeous style. I would also say that while your Faustina Sr has an edge repair, the level of detail for the price is a very fair tradeoff: it otherwise doesn't get any better!

You've had a great year! The two coins of Agathocles and the Faustina Sr. aureus are my favourites!

    Many thanks, @AncientJoe.

I agree that the Faustina Sr is a very fair tradeoff. I checked previous Heritage prices before bidding. A problem-free Ch-AU Faustina Sr could fetch 2x or more. Thus, I feel ok with edge problem, as long as Faustina's portrait is great. :)

    Thanks, @I_v_a_n.

I have no travel plan this Christmas, so I am going to spend time checking some historical background of my coins. Surely, I'll be reading all the interesting CT articles as well!

    Many thanks, @TIF.

I also learnt about Agathokles Kore tetradrachm after seeing @AncientJoe's wonderful example. Tried to get the best portrait within my budget ever since.

Your Agathokles charioteer tetradrachm is also a stunning example. I learnt about the beauty of Syracuse coins because of your coin. The four horses in the reverse is so dynamic.

    Thanks, @kazuma78.

I love the Agathocles tetradrachm design. I wish I had learnt about it years earlier, when the price is not as high as today's.

    Thanks, @zumbly.

The four coins you mentioned have very nice portraits. Have to tradeoff with a not-so-perfect reverse design though, due to budget constraint.

    Thanks, @corvusconstantius.

I agree the Euthydemos I coin has a very lifelike portrait. A bit on the expensive side though, but I would skip buying a few other coins for this one.

    Thanks, @Romancollector.

    Thanks, @ominus1. :)

    All great coins, congratulations.

I collect Greek so love the style of #4, a very desirable coin.

Yet my favourite is #7. Just a Fantastic portrait. Not a type I'd usually go for, but would happily have that one in my collection.

Well done on a great year of collecting.

Pavlos You pick out the big men. I'll make them brave!

Absolutely wonderful! I lot of amazing gold additions. I like your profile picture and the Ptolemy coin. The two faustina aureus are just top pieces.
Since I am a sucker for Hellenic art that Euthydemos tetradrachm is splendid, the portrait is really nice.

I like Seleukid coins, but I am very new to this area. Just picked up a few this year. It is great to see a collection of Seleukid coins in your website, all lined up according to the rulers. :)

I prefer Roman coins because they show individuals, making them feel like a direct link to the stories and histories of that person. However, when it comes to impressiveness of artistry, Greek coins definitely take the cake. Coin #4 is astounding! Whoever engraved the dies for that thing should be listed among the great artists of all time!

Thanks @happy_collector! Hellenic coins are great for their artistry of the portraits of Kings rather than of gods. I think it adds personal character to the coin. Looking forward seeing your additions from next year!
