It used to be that Banks would weigh their wrapped coins because Canadian cents are lighter then our pennies. They don't any more?

It's been a while since I posted here. Usually whatever finds I make are 40 percent Kennedy halves with no high quality. I'll sell the junky ones at coin shows for 2 bucks each.
However for the benefit of any statistics fans here is my take for today:
Six rolls of half dollars. One 1972 circulated no mintmark that looks proof like.
Maybe someone highly polished it but I detect no hairline scratches.

    Two - 1964 low grade

Nineteen- 40 percent . various grades

Ten [half a roll] high grade 1974 coins possibly unc.

I figure deducting my gas I can sell for melt and make a premium of $35 or so for what took a half hour to do.
My opinion is this is above average return for six rolls..

Lucky day today, my daughter got me two rolls of halves today and ended up with 40 bicentenal 1776-1976 coins in nice shape, not a lot of value but I am going to put them back for the grandkids....

There any premium on bicentennials? I've always just thrown then back in and traded them in for more.

I was lucky. A older gentleman who had them for over 30 years, was tired of them, brought them in and deposited them. I always ask for Ike's when i go to the credit union, and the head / vault teller has my phone number and she gave me a call and asked if i would like them. Of course, i said YES !

On those things I look for any high grade coins. And here in the east I save any decent Denver coins. But I would say I throw back 98 percent of them.
Now if you look on eBay there are people who do buy rolls of the Bicentennials.
Anyway they are quite common and plentiful. When searching I usually look at the base of the building on the reverse. If that bottom 3 lines of the building is messed up I junk the coin. Also on the lettering "Independence Hall" it is very common to find weak or missing letters. It is mostly the last E of the word independence and the H of hall.

Searched another box of halves today, but again, no silver. However, I did find another 1974 D Doubled Die Obverse (I've found about a dozen of these so far, 9 of them in one box). :) At least that is something!

They must not bother or it's just coincidence...I've probably landed at least one out of every three rolls I look through.

I think the frequency must depend on where you live, I live in upstate New York and average about two canadians per roll. At the same time I am lucky to find one or two lincolns with an S mint mark in a $25 box. They just don't make it out this way for some reason.
