Hello friends, could I see some wall mounted displays under glass or shadow box…..I am thinking of doing that. Rich
The glass door broke during my move (don't worry, all the antiquities were safely packed away). So, I took off the door and display the items as such:
You have to look closely but you can see I do my best to keep them safe as well as those around them: jk, good call out. I'll have to figure something out...
My Wife had the idea to look for old drawers from long ago printers where all the letters, numbers and characters were stored. After a number of visits to antique, junk and second hand shops, she has so far managed to source 7 of them. They are all away being sprayed with varnish except this one. She uses it to see what fits, what colors work etc. It would also be simple to have a glass or plexi-glass door(s) and hinges fitted. They will eventually be used to display fossils and minerals in our shop.
We have a gift and artifact shop in South Eastern Spain. We also have a Real Estate office next door with a lot of clients in mountainous and deep glacier valley areas. A lot of our minerals come from the properties of these clients. This is a fairly recent gift from one of them. Weight is nearly 9 pounds, 10 inches long, 7 inches wide and 6 inches high, a bit big for these display drawers, lol
Quick question, Ryro. The Spanish ingot you have there - what is the composition? I like it. To the original post: As far as wall displays go, I only have a framed type set. I also have a Ronald Reagan display I am building, with a Reagan coin set, a Nancy Reagan bronze medal from the mint, pieces of the Berlin Wall, and an original invite to the inauguration. Not finished yet, but when it is for sure I will share. Check out the "3D" frames. They have enough of a gap from the back of the frame to the glass that something like a coin could fit nicely. Hobby Lobby is where I got mine. I think they also have ones with little shelves as well if that is your style.
Some of the lures my grandfather made and some I made. I liked to watch him, and he taught me. The Native American artifacts I found walking plowed fields and creeks in my home territory.
The first one is an original one from around 1900. the second one is a copy of the first one which I made:
@Inspector43 In the above display, you have several arrowheads that are nearly complete. Did you find these or how did you come to own them? The couple of bits and chips that I found were just that.
In the upper left of this photo, taken right inside the door to my apartment, there's a small glass vitrine or display case hanging on the wall, containing some of my smallest antiquities, mostly Egyptian. You can also see the glass bell jar with my three Attic black-figure lekythoi, standing on another display case holding a few seashells and fossils and various other tchotchkes.
