It could also be polished or plated but I don't think so let's wait for one of them to respond.

On the '38, I don't think so, the rims don't look wide enough.

    But, hey, I wear glasses

Fun find! I don't think it is proof either. But a great find for roll hunting, or pocket change.

Opened a customer wrapped roll of nickels . All but a few are uncirculated from the mid 70’s to 1980. I smell a collection dump!

Holy mackerel. This dopey thread i put together with zero thought, just so i could find a little release from the coins i find, has been viewed over 50,000 times! That might be the scariest thing I've ever seen, lol. Funny thing is, I only see a few people a day, so, thanks to those i know, (i started to write a list of shout outs, but it got too long, lol. You know who you are, i thank you guys all the time) and thanks to the nameless who stop by, just to take a look.

With that, I'm going to open up the floor for questions. Feel free, just nothing personal or work related, please. Coin questions, only, please.

Not bad, 42 keepers. Minus the nickel trash, not bad at all.

I don't mess with very many proofs so I can’t tell you anything for sure, but it looks like one, or it has been polished at some point. If it is a proof it is a good find for sure.

I don't really discuss coins with anyone. It's nobodies business what I'm into. I post here, anonymously, just to get a little release from the pent up excitement of finding something cool! That's it though. No real interest in coins, unless there's more than FV.
Someone's been talking about me. I'll be away for the Dec holidays so a few scattered "family" members had a quick couple drinks last night to say "hey! I saw you last Christmas! Isn't that enough?". Anyway, someone pulled me aside and said, i hear you're into money now. What a friggin geek. What's up with this dime? Sounds funny with the rest of my change.

And there you have it. Silver, still in circulation, for the unaware. I said, I'm not into "money", jerk, but i can tell you, your dime is 90% silver, hence the funny sound. "What's it worth" questions. About a buck. They laughed, told me if a buck is so important to me, i should keep it. I didn't recall saying about the importance of a buck, to me, but ok. I'll keep it.
So it didn't cost me anything, not even the customary clad dime, out of pocket, so I'm putting it here. Didn't find it, but it's in my bullion bag for later sales.
Hope to see you all in a little bit. Have a nice morning.

I don't think i have this state yet. I'm about 2/3 of the way to finding all the state quarters in proof, in circulation, in about a year.

I know, just boring. Last Monday i had like 14 keepers. Monday is my crazy day, and if i only found that today, I'm not holding out hope for better this week. So this week will stink. That's OK. But yes, still cool to find those today. I also don't post pics of 1940 and 1941 nickels, which i found two '40.
