As most most of you know, I have searched a lot of cents (809 boxes to be precise). In all those boxes I have found some really cool stuff but I have never found a key or semi-key date. Well that changed tonight. Box 809 gave up 18 wheaties. I always check the 10s, 20s, and 30s with mint marks to see if I need any. Unfortunately, all I am missing are the keys and semi-keys. Today I was surprised to find that I didn't have a 1926-S. Turns out it is a semi-key with a mintage of only 4.5mil. Not too shabby Without further ado, here it is:
Box 809!!! That's patience and perseverance for sure. Congrats on a nice find. Nice date, nice condition and nice that it fills a hole to boot
nice find! congrats. Those keys and semi keys are tough enough to find at auction at affordable prices, much less a CRH find. So cool.
Nice find, I will admit I tried looking thru a bag of Lincolns once and I said to myself "NO MAS". I do better by looking at my change.
That's a fantastic find. I agree with VF but what really sets this one apart is the fairly early die state. A lot of those dies from 1925/1926 were so overused the 6 looks smeared and the bottom of Lincolns coat can look like choppy waves on the ocean.
I wonder how this one escaped the ravages of time and circulation. Being mixed in with random coins makes me think it wasn't a collection dump.
Maybe it was part of the "Great American Coin Giveaway" (2019?) and you just happened to be the one to come across it and that appreciates it? (I heard of a dealer that put a 1909S VDB out into the wild.)
