A beautifully toned 1902 raw Indian Head Cent. I’ve had this for a number of years. The obverse is a beautiful color, strong on the rosy red and pink side with highlights of blue, purple and yellow. The 2nd photo shows the amount of rotation on the reverse as compared to the obverse. The last photo is straighten out so you don’t have to rotate your head. Lol The reverse is starting to show signs of the same colors that are on the obverse.

I know I could look this up, lol, but is the rainbow toning formed on the original luster? I never really thought about why some copper coins tone like this and others don't.
As far as I can tell, yes it is. Just exposed to the right conditions. Obviously, it hasn’t circulated a lot.
