I hadn't bought anything from them since January, and the previous two purchases either got dropped in my mailbox (low value) or had to be picked up at the post office (higher value). Today's delivery was under $200 and was FedEx with signature required. I'm at home most of the time now, but that seems like quite a hassle for those that aren't home. Anybody know the reason for the change? Too many insurance losses or a sweet deal with FedEx?
That might be a factor but I've never had a coin delivered to my house - always the mailbox or held at post office. I suppose the switch to FedEx mandates them doing signature required because of porch theft, and as dwhiz says it's probably the money.
I haven't had to sign for a package in over 18 months. Fed EX, UPS, USPS. My quarterly meds for my psoriasis is $2000 every three months. My coin purchases sometimes well over $3500/ package. No signature and most times not even a ring of the doorbell. I have one of those RING doorbells, only works half the time. Reason for the "No Signature" ? COVID19
That’s another reason why I have all of my FedEx and UPS packages delivered to my post office box. I would never have coins delivered to my house.
I've been told several times and as recently as August, that Fedex does not deliver to a PO box. My local Fedex told me they won't deliver to package mailing stores that also rents small PO boxes like Kinkos used to.
If you select FedEx SmartPost they use USPS for the last leg to ship to PO Boxes, according to their FAQ. I didn't see that as an option on Heritage but I do have a PO Box too so maybe next time I'll try changing my address to the PO Box and see.
You have it delivered to the post office, with the box number written down as a unit number. Then I get a notice in my box that I have a package. The physical address of the post office is the street address.
When I just renewed my box, they had a form that asked if I would like them to accept pkgs from FedEx or UPS.
