For the past year, I have been working on a collecting project, code named the 1888 Project. It started last December when I bought a coin on my bucket list — a proof Morgan dollar. That led to an attempt to assemble an 1888 non-gold proof set.

I’m proud to present it. I hope you guys and gals enjoy seeing it!

First is the 1888 Indian Head cent. Graded PF66 BN by PCGS. It has a CAC green sticker.

Awesome! Quite an accomplishment. Does 1888 have a particular significance, or just that it happened to be the date of the Morgan?

It’s 1888 because that was the date of the Morgan proof I could swing.

1888 was a pretty good year in my book. One of my grandparents was born in that year!

    Love it!

I'm curious - when did the mint begin making proof coins available as sets?

Love that seated dime! But I'm partial to seated coinage. I'd love one day to do something like this because I find older proof coins beautiful.
