cent bag hunting, where to start?

I've had a thought to buy a mint sewn bag of cents from somewhere of a single date, $50. Wondering what's reasonable and what's unreasonable pricing?
also what years would give me the most bang for my buck as far as things to look for? I've seen them as low as $150, but I've also seen them near $400 and more. is it certain years that command better prices, or just the seller looking to make more money?

one thing is for sure, I want original mint bags that are sealed, not sure where to begin and dont' want to get ripped off. is there any general rule like 2-3-4x face or something?

    thanks.

Prices will vary wildly depending on what the date/mm is

how "wildly" though if you don't mind me asking? is there a "totally unreasonable" point? like is there a standard of 5-10-20x face marked on the bag or something? or is 60x marked FV still in the reasonable realm....

I bought 3 bags, still going thru them. Bought mine for 2x face.
1963, 71D, and 68D. I got a good deal. 2x face is low you should expect 3x to 4x face for BU cents.

Unless the year and MM is filled with DDO's, RPM's then expect to pay maybe 5 to 10X face or more.

thank you. wasn't sure where I should be on it. they can be gotten for 2x-3x face, up to 4-5x face for others, and 10x+ face if theres decently valuable possibilities.

I want to dip my feet into this water, but I don't want to go overboard, so I'll stick to 2-3x face bags at first and take it from there. Thank you.

After getting into these bags, they definitely take a bit of devotion. That is a lot of coins. I might suggest that you pick up a couple of sorting trays. I made mine.

They will help when you need to put the coins to the side.

I know huh, The 63 Lincoln has quite a few different variety's all are minor. And most are RD or turning RB. I am hoping to find a BRN, who knows? I expected it to have more RB's and less Brilliant Reds.
The silver came out of a clock.
Yeah, I am looking for the few 66's hoping for a 67'.

The lower tray has the 71D's Most I have found in those is an abraded die clash. And all are MS RD.
I may have put a slit in the 68D bag and pulled one or 2.
I was expecting coins with more color.

well that sure is interesting. I'm going to have to pick up a bag and give it a go, just to see what the time capsule contains.
