I need to organize my growing collection of world banknotes, and I would appreciate suggestions for an online database to keep track. For my world coins, I use U Coin.net and it works very well for me. Is there a similar database online that can also produce spreadsheets when needed? Your suggestions would be great.

I realize this has likely been the subject of several posts, but I looked back for about a year and did not find any.

Might I recommend Numista? They happen to have an extensive banknote catalog.

Numista is good, and Colnect also has a database

I'll vote for Numista; have no experience with Colnect.

Numista definitely. I had other Colnect users want to swap dealer stock for good notes (which is pretty much the same at Numista). Mostly coin collectors but at least a somewhat active forum there too (esp in comparison to Colnect which caters to collectors of anything).

I wrote a fairly comprehensive guide to collecting for Colnect's wiki & they would not attribute me as the author. I then started to experience odd things on that site. I had a couple of my banknote images stolen (copied/pirated), but requests for passport info that could have compromised my security (from the admin at Colnect) was the final nail in the coffin. I removed my account promptly.

I would check out this thread where other collectors also had problems.

I'm all for spreadsheets (Excel in case).
You can create it to your tastes and easily modify when you wish.

-Yes, always start with a spread sheet (& print it periodically). That's a must. [Online tracking is nice & useful but only helpful provided you've got a network].
