This Tokelau 2021 Robots Coin is quite different from other collector coins. Other than it's stunning quality and design, it features the first ever augmented reality phone application. Scan a coin using your mobile camera and the coin comes to life with sound and movement, thanks to augmented reality (AR) technology The 3oz silver coin is 50 mm in diameter and has a limited mintage of 399 coins. Price $499 per coin. Pretty crazy coin huh? Please leave comments below on what tou think of it. Thanks for posting. Spoiler Alert I just bought one
Honestly, my first reaction was phooey… And went on to look at other threads. But then I had to come back. This is now the third time I have come back to look at the thing and watch the video. I don’t know what this thing has sucked me in…. But it has sucked me in.
Ugh, I wish I had an extra $499 right now [resists urge to put it on credit card]. I'm getting drawn in too! I've got dental expenses, I just paid to move a bunch of stuff and then everyone needs money from dad for Christmas and stuff. On the other hand, I should get a decent bonus in May... Stop it!!!!
If you think this one is expensive the V2 (obsidian black) version are $999 each total mintage 99. When purchasing either coin you are given the option to actually pick your coin mintage number. (For a price) I clicked on 001 the first one minted for the gilded V1 version is $9999 yep not a typo $10k . To purchase the coin at $499 you get a randomly chosen mintage number and coin. I believe these are the first coin sets produced by this patented technology, hence why I pulled the trigger and purchased it. I will post pics and the serial/mintage number when received
It's neat. There are several new bullion issues coming out in the name of Tokelau and I've bought many in the past. I actually picked up a Godzilla and Kong ounce and a cool Tetris ounce recently. It was the nostalgia for me on the Tetris coin.
I have several of their coins as well. I love them all they always have unique designs Looks like these next Gen robot coins were farmed out to Artisan Productions and crafted with some new minting technology called Pinnacle Relief. Here is the company site for more info if you like. https://www.artisancoins.com/
I forgot to add. The company responsible for the design and production of these particular coins is a California based company.
I can't remember which one, but I knew they were bullion produced in the name of a country, technically legal tender in those host countries. But many these newer collector coins are going this route. I know Tokelau, Republic of Chad, many Caribbean islands, etc. I think it gives a bit more range in the subject matter that can be portrayed and more artistic liberty. There are detractors, but at least the silver or gold issues have at least intrinsic value.
Yep even the British Virgin Islands. I recently picked up their Morgan and Peace Dollar anniversary coins
Modern NCLT always has some kind of gimmick these days, doesn't it? Mind you, I'm not saying there's necessarily anything wrong with that. Gimmicks are fun. Gimmicks sell. And many of them are very nicely done. This one is neat. Not 500-dollar neat, to my way of thinking (unless there had been nearly that much in bullion value involved). But yeah, it's cool, and appealingly designed. I hope you'll post pix of it in hand, because I'd like to see what an actual coin looks like that way, rather than in a slick computer animation.
Did I mention that it comes with a pair of numismatic gloves ? I'm curious to see it in hand as well. I will post pics and mintage number when received.
Tokelau Robots 2021 The Next Evolution Coin It finally arrived and is everything as beautiful as the pre order photos and advertisements. It was pricey but I like it. It truly is a unique coin.
