I had no idea who that guy you posted was, so I had to do a Google Image Search.

    Aha.

He is not exactly a pet, but he thinks he lives here. Frequently helps himself to the persimmons in my trees and (as here) the seeds in my bird feeder outside my kitchen window. (I took the picture, no zoom, from about three feet away inside my kitchen. He is not exactly terrified for having been caught red-handed!)

I’ll try to do the drawing for Round 2 (“Day” 2) at some point Wednesday. Maybe before I leave work at 7:00 AM Eastern US time. With my odd graveyard-shift hours, that’s probably when many of the drawings will get done, though of course we’ll have each round open for at least 24 hours so folks around the clock and in different time zones will have the chance to enter. And if you miss the chance to post an entry in one round, there’s always the next one.

PS- I’ll also be doing the drawing for my own Giveaway #65 tonight.

You might as well accept it and assume he’s an outdoor pet. He’s cute and photogenic enough, at any rate.

I might have to fight my friend across the stream (and down a bit) on the other side of the woods if I claimed it as my pet. She leaves dog-food on her deck for them each night. I have been in her home and seen around 20 gathered at once. I watched the bolder ones come into her house and politely take cookies from her hand.

That’s adorable and a little scary, all at the same time.

PS- that’s a great shot you got, through the kitchen window!

We have a few here. Husband feeds them dog food and crackers. image1_0.jpg

Gotta be real careful. Racoons can be really mean and aggressive. Who knows what might set one off. Could be as simple as a telephone ringing while your outstretched hand is feeding it a saltine ;)

This is what I meant by “adorable and a little scary”, all at the same time. They’re wonderful creatures, and cute and all, but still wild animals, with all the unpredictability that implies. It’s easy to forget that, when one is seduced by their undeniable charm.

    Never heard of it.

Like @Kentucky, all I initially found in a Google search were some images of Ike dollars.

All I found was just one very short CT thread from 2009. And this heavily-hyped sales pitch, which does describe the variety somewhat. Apparently "GOD" was bold on all the 1926 dollars? Interesting. I did not know that.

As a disclaimer, I don't recommend this to anyone. These guys can become a nuisance, create problems and yes, they can be unpredictable.
