Sorry I bothered. I guess you have something that cannot exist. I didn't know Zn was the same color as Cu. Now, take a real close look at the defect. How do you explain the small split. I'm sure you'll figure out how it happened and be able to answer your own question.
IMHO, a sliver (the burr) of the clad layer at the edge of the planchet split away and was struck back into the piece. We know it is the copper clad layer because of its color and the split. We know it is struck back into the finished coin because of the way the sliver is impressed. Note the line on the rim showing the split from the lamination. Let's see if Fred agrees.
Yes, that's what I meant - I was asking if the OP thought it might be a rim burr, which I agree, it is. Scarce on the copper-plated zinc cents, imo.
