started collscting coins back when i was 8 yrs old, one of the neighbors had an foreign exchnge student (who became my gf, lol) anyways she introduced me to her cousin, dennis, and he got me interested in coins..started dealing when i was 13, full time, ddoing 40 shows a year..after the silver rise and crash kind of got out of it for 40 years, then started again this january, collecting errors, but back when i was 8 till 12 or so used to go to the bank in the same parking lot where me mum had her dollhouse store and used to sort through rolls (right at the counter they had for writing checks and deposits) i would go through perhaps 30 or so rolls a day..back then was getting silver almost all the time, also would walk the town and hit all the banks, wait in line till i got to the teller, and look at their coin trays, any silver i saw i asked for, lol so been doing it for a bit...my dad would take me to shows, (he sold stamps, heck, he had to do something whilst i was at the shows, i almost always made more than him..he would do 50-100.00 and i would gross thousands, i made deals with several coin shops where my dad would write a check for say 500.00, they would give me coins on consignment, usually rare ones, or say 40 0or 50 1 oz silver bars or a roll of morgans, whatever i did not sell i returned, got the check back and paid cash, minus 10% on the consignments..

Wow. I can't remember the last time I grossed thousands on coins, or if I ever even did, lol? So how much would you estimate these coins you showed off in this thread are worth? I'll bet hundreds? I don't rightly know. You got so many...

not very much, the die chips maybe a few dollars each, the struck through grease about the same, and you have to remember silver was going through the roof back in the early 80's if i had 100.00 face value at the start of the show, by noon it was all gone back then 3-5.00 on the dollar and kept going up, people were very eager to sell what they had because they did not think it would go higher, i got out of the coin business when silver was at 36.00 an ounce, but dealers were only paying about 28.00, i remember popping open proof sets, to get the silver..lol and some of the coins i sold then are worth a fortune now, i had a few 1921 peace in gem bu+++ sold em for 400 ea, and 2 1916 type 1 slq, sold those to bowers and ruddy galleries for 100.00 each..today those are like 40k each..if i had only saved em...i got out of coins and went into selling tools, then i operated coin op video games, put them in theatres and restaurants and such..i have had many business in my career...but i seem to always come back to coins....in the late 80's early 90's was doing a flea market in maybrook new york and also wholesaling out of my van..electronics and videos, lighters, you name it whatever i could pick up in new york citiy's then (5th avenue and 28th st) wholesale district..there was a guy at the fl market who was a jeweler, he used to sell me a roll of silver dollars, sometimes more, some times less..whatever he had, i invested in them for 3 years, then when i was ready to buy my first house i sold all my silver , 5 100 oz bars, maybe 100 1 ozers, and 350 silver dollars at then price of 13.00 an ounce and bought my house, also got rid of a restored 69 camaro...wound up losing everything in divorce..started over, just life, you win, you lose, you start over...kind of retired now and it is mainly a hobby, but starting to hit the coin shows around my area...coins are in my blood..

My dad knew a guy who sold furs and electronics real cheap. We got a brand new color TV once with remote control for like just $75! It fell off a train, the guy told my dad. I know it might sound crazy, but a lot of things fall of trains. Or they used to, I don't know if they do much anymore. But they're damaged goods for that so they can sell them for real cheap. A lot of people don't know this, but it's true.

Hey, just a question. You say you found that 1999 in circ? How could you call it unc if you found it in circ? Wouldn't it be circ if you found it in circ? Or is it unc because you found it in a roll? But that doesn't make sense because you found junk too in those rolls and they're obviously not unc. How can they be? So just because it's in a roll, that doesn't mean it's unc. Isn't that right? So how is it that 1999 is unc? I'm afraid I'm not understanding it. I'm not saying you're wrong or crazy.

if you think about it once a coin leaves the mint, it is in circulation, so therefore there is no such thing as an unc coin unless it is sealed before it leaves the mint, i consider a coin unc if it has zero wear, besides bag marks of course...if no fingerprints too, although the tpg consider fingerprints do not matter, i do not like em.., so a coin that is not worn, and no fingerprints as far as i am concerned..

    or:

There are two major factors that indicate a coin is in uncirculated condition:
    1. Mint luster. Coins that have never been in circulation usually exhibit a distinctive sheen or luster. ...
    2. No trace of wear. One of the most obvious signs that a coin is uncirculated is the absence of wear or rubbing on the coin's high points.
