They've done that to me before and I went back and forth with them over it, the last time they did it they finally admitted they were fs when they went back and checked the video of when they came in.
Not sure why they’d need to do that the paid invoice inside the mint sealed boxes has the ship date on it.
Oh wow they take the FS designation that seriously to where they are going through camera footage?? Couldn’t they just use the tracking number? That’s pretty crazy actually. It’s not like the FS adds that much to a coin’s value. Also it’s not like anyone will be able to prove if they falsely gave the FS designation to a coin that didn’t qualify so I think they should just give the benefit of the doubt to the customer if there is any debate over whether it’s FS eligible or not.
Don't ask me cause I have no idea why they would have to do that, my strangest exchange with their rep was when they thought the coins I sent in from the silver proof set were from the clad set. pcgs rep: Good Afternoon, This email is in regards to Submission 230618. For this order the coins do not qualify for First Strike since the cutoff date was 04/5/21 and the coins were not mint sealed in the original mint packaging. Would you like to continue with the grading of the coin without the First Strike designation? Please reply to this email with how you would like to proceed. To which I replied: Those coins were first issued 4/22/2021, it hasn't even been a month yet since they were out. Those are from the silver proof sets released on 4/22/21, so they must qualify for first strike, please recheck. pcgs rep: Good Afternoon, Thank you so much for letting me know, you are correct. I did get fs, but not very good grades. https://www.pcgs.com/shared-orders/order-details/22308655
Oh in the not so distant past FS carried “thousands” of a bump in price vs non 1st strike. It’s just a label, but marketing has shown people love labels.
Ther There is a "find my package" option on the website - just enter your shipping number and you should get verification that it was received.
Everything is good . I originally posted this thread right after I mailed my coins in but since then I have seen that my coins have arrived at PCGS and are in the process of being graded. Fortunately now there is nothing to panic about now that my coins are in PCGS’s hands and they will ship them back insured.
What’s wrong with the grades? You got some nice 68s and 69s which is pretty sweet for coins that aren’t purchased directly from the Mint. Unless you bought these straight from them?
They were from my enrollment, which made me wonder if the mint was dumping the rejects from the advanced purchasers on collectors with not one 70 in the bunch.
Wow, those grades are rough…Did you screen them before sending in or was it a blind submission, meaning submitted in a sealed box? Regardless low grades for Silver proofs.
Advanced purchases don't get to do returns. They say they don't reship returns, but its a wide spread belief that has had some proof before that they very likely do resell them barring some major issue with the product
Did PCGS change the First Strike Rules? It used to be if the original mint sealed box was shipped before the cutoff as evidenced by the mint invoice the coins were FS eligible forever. Now it appears it says it’s limited by the postmark on the submission being before the cutoff. Regardless my buddies mint sealed box falls within #2 (see photo) PCGS is refusing to give FS for sealed mint boxes postmarked 11/15 for the actual shipping box received 11/18. See their email pic. The mint sealed boxes were received approx 11/9
I noticed that it says "original unopened shipping box". To me that sounds like they are NOT asking for just the OGP blue packaging but the brown shipping box with the address on it. But it seems like a lot of people have told me that the OGP packaging was enough for FS.
Unless the new owners made some MASSIVE change what would be unique to just them simply sending the coins should be enough within the stated time frame
I don’t know what’s going on. Their responses are ridiculous. I told him to call and get someone else to fix this nonsense.
