What do you think that this is? Does the coin suffer from indirect die transfer? Could it be a counter clash? I think that I have eliminated a clash because of how distorted the image is. What I am wondering is what the T looking image is under the right wing. It is raised of off the surface. And what ever it is, it is floating. This doesn't correspond to an overlay. http://www.maddieclashes.com/dollar-overlays/ A type ll counter clash happens when debri gets caught in the coining chamber and impress's itself into the die face. The obverse die definitely has evidence of being struck through grease. Not sure what the area around the S in pluribus is. I don't believe that the dies were recently lapped or polished. This one has me puzzled?
It does have some serious die deterioration. Maybe even some indirect die transfer. Just can't make out what the few raised area on the die surface are.
