Very unique - I have to admit, it's the very first silver round I have ever seen with different metallic compositions on the obverse and reverse.
My guess is that it's a foreign made silver round. Maybe made in England or Australia. Very nice. I don't think that there's different amounts of silver composition on opposing sides of the round, I think it's two different ways to say the same thing. Also, I think the Franklin mint made a similiar looking round but nowhere near as nice. Maybe it's a very early Franklin mint piece, I don't know.
I seriously doubt that it was minted in England or Australia for that matter strictly by the issue of the commemorating event. The obverse depicts two indians lying in a field of perhaps wheat or corn. Perhaps if Ken Potter were contacted, he could positively identify this medal. I find it a very attractive and unique piece. Yes 99.97= .999 troy ounce
I could not suggest a Market Value for this medal, as I am certain it would bring above Silver Spot. How much above spot, I really don't know without having more detailed information regarding the issue. For the grade, I would say it is a nice original mint state medal ( complete w/ diecrack ). To offer a more definitive grade, we would require better photos. I am very curious about this medal, and will continue to obtain some information. Once you get that, you might be able to determine a value, and I may be interested in the purchase.
